Why I Love my Job

Becky Addison

I've had a variety of jobs in my life - figure skating coach, bartender, chef's assistant, jewellery maker, the list goes on. Although I was passionate about all those occupations, working for Brili has been by far the most rewarding.

You can teach children crosscuts on the ice, serve them Shirley Temples, feed them grilled cheese in a restaurant or make them a cute pink bracelet but those things are fleeting - they just don't have a lasting impact. As the Brili Community Manager, I see the support questions come through – but I also see a lot of something else. I see many notes of gratitude and exclamations of relief from parents using Brili with their kids. They tell us time and time again that Brili helps their kids get through their day, essentially making everyone's lives easier. Giving them an edge to love life.  This is my favorite note from a parent so far:

"It had been 4 years since we could eat breakfast as a family.  Day 1 with Brili changed all that!  I never knew how much stress I carried to work each day until it was lifted. We had to physically dress our son to keep him on task, now he is excited to pick his own clothes and dress himself.
This program reaches far beyond the child with organizational & focus issues.  Little brother is no longer punched or kicked in frustration, the educational assistant meets a happy child that is proud to tell her he did all his jobs on time, mom & dad go to work stress free.  Everyone's day is set up for success."

Parents are telling us that Brili is promoting independence and confidence in their kids. Task by task, their kids are learning that getting ready for bed isn't the end of the world. Fewer meltdowns also mean that parents are regaining their own confidence, and family life in general improves. Showing children that getting ready for school, doing their homework, or cleaning their room can be easy and fun is so important, and builds a proactive attitude that sets a strong foundation to succeed later in life. It's that "can do" attitude. It touches me to hear the praise from families about how Brili empowered their children and mended their family's relationships. Each note of thanks that comes through makes me feel like I'm part of a community that is making a big difference for families. This makes me a proud advocate, to say the least.
